Overview
Traditionally a last pole ceremony is held at the conclusion of a successful Underground Power Project.
After 14 months of civil and electrical works in tough limestone ground conditions in Trigg, Mainswest finally got to celebrate the removal of the final power pole in a ceremony that was attended by many dignitaries including:
City of Stirling Mayor – Mark Irwin
Local MP – Stuart Aubrey MLA
Western Power – CEO Ed Kalajzic
Western Power Executive – Sam Barbaro
Western Power Program Manager – Graham Downe
Mainswest General Manager – Colin Gormley
And many more members of the Western Power and City of Stirling executive teams and member of the project and construction teams. Congratulations on a job well done!
- The project was delivered on time and within budget
- 700,000m2 of approximate project area
- 633 properties changed over to underground power
- 27,000m of new underground cable installed
- 5 new Primary Equipment sites installed
- 180 new LED Streetlights installed
- 279 redundant wooden poles and overhead conductor bays removed
- 43,000 man-hours worked
- 181 employees, specialist contractors and visitors inducted on site
- 3,500 resident communication notices delivered
