Communication Services

National Broadband Network (NBN) Oct 2013 – Current

Mainswest have been heavily involved in the construction roll out of the NBN since October 2013 for NBN principal contractors ‘Fulton Hogan’ and ‘Downer Group’. Mainswest specialise in the supply and installation of PE and PVC pipe using a combination of horizontal directional drilling and trenching techniques in sand, rock or clay. Mainswest also install communications pits in new or existing locations and piece up all works ‘pit to pit’ including professional reinstatement and rodding and roping of conduits ready for cable hauling.

Since commencing works for the NBN rollout Mainswest have installed over 300,000 metres of conduit in multiple FSAMs in and around the Perth Metropolitan area including the following locations:

Perth CBD
South Perth
Hamersley

Meadow Springs
Victoria Park
Armadale

Wanneroo
Cannington
Tuart Hill

Mainswest install anywhere from 500m to 1,000m metres of conduit per week depending on ground conditions and we take every precaution to prevent unwanted strikes of other utility providers assets including referring to DBYD plans, potholing to expose services and tracking above ground. Our asset strike rate is below the NBN nationally accepted average of 0.2 strikes per kilometre of installed conduit.

We constantly monitor the efficiencies of our civil crews and set S.M.A.R.T goals as we strive for excellence in the industry.
